Santa Fe & O'Keeffe Country
Day 18:
Today we visited the old, artisan(and narrow) town of Santa Fe, which is a grand tourist attraction. The town was very famous for its arts and craftsmanship, especially since the great Georgia O'Keeffe moved to New Mexico when her husband died in 1946. We walked all around Santa Fe, which happened to have an art fair, full of craftsman of all kinds, from metal to wood. There were streets full of little trinkets and necklaces and very nice miscellaneous items. My sister got a neat dream catcher necklace from one of the street vendors, which she later broke for not paying attention (don't tell her I said that) and the landscape was beautiful from this rooftop restaurant, which happened to be exceptionally delicious. We also went to the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, which showcased 'Abstractions' 101 works of art of hers, made by charcoal and watercolor. We did our daily 5-hour drive and ended up in the panhandle of Texas, Amarillo, which was originally named Armadillo, which is a bit-a-ways from the Mexican border. Tomorrow we will take the famous Route 66 to Oklahoma City, where we will see the Cowboy Museum, recommended by one of our friends, and we will see where we end up from there.
